Communism and Marxism

Communism is built on the ideas of Karl Marx (1820-1895). He believed that society was divided into two classes:the workers, and the capitalist bourgeoisie who owned all the factories, tools and machines. The workers were poorly paid, while the capitalists kept all the profits. The communists wanted a revolution to abolish the class-divided society. The means of production should be owned by people jointly, and not by a minority upper class.
