The heroine of Orléans
This is a fantastic story about the farm girl Joan of Arc. She followed heavenly guidance, led an army, and became a martyr during the Hundred Years’ War. She cried out loud when she was led to the bonfire where she would be burned alive. What had she really done wrong?
Joan was a political person who could have changed how the Hundred Years’ War ended.
⬅ Joan’s famous white banner was decorated with lilies, a flower that is normally associated with the French monarchy, which she was fighting for.
The heretic
Tens of thousands of people joined the town square to see the event in Normandy. She got comfort from a Dominican priest who held a cross so high that she could see it over the flames.
Joan of Arc was only a teenager when she was murdered, dressed in white. She was called a heretic because she had a belief that was against the religion. She said she got messages from angels.
She was charged with being a “heretic” because she dressed in men’s clothes. But the authorities had already been after her because she had embarrassed England during the Hundred Years’ War, which made people angry.
